North Carolina's coast through the Coastal Habitat Protection Plan

The North Carolina Coastal Habitat Coalition is a group of stakeholders working to protect coastal habitats such as seagrass, oysters, and salt marsh. The North Carolina Coastal Federation and The Pew Charitable Trusts are bringing people together to share ideas to protect these valuable resources through the 2021 Coastal Habitat Protection Plan and the 2021 Oyster Blueprint.

The North Carolina Coastal Habitat Protection Plan is a one-of-a-kind resource for protecting and restoring North Carolina's coastal habitat.

The North Carolina Coastal Habitat Protection Plan (CHPP) brings together agencies, partners and stakeholders every five years to ensure a healthy coastal habitat essential for recreation, fisheries, and coastal resiliency.

Restoring oysters through the Oyster Blueprint

The NC Oyster Blueprint is an action plan for protecting and restoring oyster habitat.

For almost two decades, a diverse group of people involved in growing, harvesting, studying, managing and eating oysters has worked together to protect and restore North Carolina’s oyster habitats and fishery through the Oyster Blueprint.

Clean Water Recommendations for Protecting and Restoring North Carolina's Coastal Habitats

The North Carolina Coastal Habitat Coalition had an opportunity to convene a group of stakeholders in the summer of 2021 to learn from scientists the connection between clean water and productive fishery habitats. The group produced a document below that was submitted to the North Carolina Coastal Habitat Protection Plan Steering Committee in August of 2021.
